Clan William

This morning we're on our way by 7:30, heading north to Clan William, small town which once a year is a mecca for the spring flower season visitors.
This is also the home of Roiboos tea,  which is gathered and processed here. So if you ask for a cup of hot tea you need to specify what kind of tea you're wanting.
We are here to see the reform Dutch church which every year artfully displays the spring flowers from all over South Africa. This year the display is in the center of the church, rising about 20 feet and is covered with many different varieties and colors of flowers and includes a small waterfall. The arrangements are both simple and elaborate. Hauling the rocks, sand and logs - not to mention the small trees and plants - must take hours of labor.
We visited a delightful tearoom for a snack then headed home.
On the way, the police were stopping traffic to advise there was a protest in the town we would be driving through and it would be best to take another route. Apparently the government has not been effective in providing the services that they had promised.
Tonight fish and chips at the harbor sitting outside looking over the water and enjoying the fresh caught hake and kingsklips.
