September 11. The smell of baking permeated the house while we slept. When we went down to see what the baker had wrought with our blueberries, we were surprised to find a fellow playing guitar and singing in the dining room. As well as blueberry pastries.
After breakfast, we pondered what to do on a rainy day. We ended up driving along the western shoreline for a while, passing through Morrell and St. Peters, where we stopped to enquire about biking the Confederation Trail. This is the rails to trails route of the trains that traveled the island before cars and roads took over. But too windy and misty for pedaling to Morrell and back - reportedly the most scenic section.
Turned back before we got all the way to the northern tip. But did get to see the parabolic sand dunes outside of Cavendish.
Washed clothes and relaxed before we and Rick headed out for dinner. In spite of a busy, rainy Friday night, we managed to get into a nice place, eat and get back in time to pick up the Smiths for another Ceilidh - this time at the Irish Cultural Center and sponsored by the Benevolent Irish Society.
Not as much fun and variety, I thought, as last night. Sort of John Denver meets A Mighty Wind.
Off to Cape Breton tomorrow. I'd like another day here, actually.
